The Peter Nwomeh Foundation is a non-profit, non-political organization registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Nigeria, under Part ‘C’ of the Company and Allied Matters Act 1 of 1990.
The Foundation is named after the late Mr. Peter Ani Nwomeh, a foremost educationist of his time who attained fame for his outstanding academic feats. After primary school at home, he proceeded to St. Charles Teachers College, Onitsha, for his Teachers’ Grade II Certificate.
He later passed the ‘A’ Level which earned him direct entry admission for the BSc degree in Physics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, from where he graduated in 1966, thus becoming one of the earliest graduates from his community. His teaching vocation took him to many school posts in Nkanu and beyond.
He also served as a director in the State Ministry of Education, Enugu, before his untimely death in 1970, aged 39 years. Peter was passionate about education and community service. He inspired and encouraged others to the path of schooling. To honour his memory and sustain his legacies, his family and friends established a Foundation to champion those values he most treasured – the promotion of knowledge and selfless community service.
