Aisha Alkali Wakil, widely known as Mama Boko Haram, and two associates have been sentenced to five years imprisonment by a Borno State High Court for their involvement in a ₦6 million fraud case. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted the trio, accusing them of defrauding Alhaji Bukar Kachalla, a contractor, through their NGO, Complete Care and Aid Foundation.
The defendants were charged with conspiracy and dishonestly inducing Kachalla to deliver a Toyota Camry 2012 model on the promise of payment, which was never fulfilled. Justice Aisha Kumaliya ruled that the three must repay ₦3.5 million to the complainant or serve an additional five years behind bars.
This judgment underscores Nigeria’s commitment to holding even prominent individuals accountable for fraudulent activities.
